Getting Here

Spend the morning in one of the most productive ecosystems on the planet! During this class participants will visit the salt marsh on NASA's restricted Wallops Island. Participants will observe the wildlife that call the marsh home, learn about food webs, marsh formation and tidal zonation.  During this workshop participants will have the opportunity to do a “productivity plunge” where they will get to experience the marsh (and mud!) in true full immersion style (aka-you will get to jump in the marsh mud!!).
This program is geared towards ages 7+ but all are welcome.

Time: 8:30 am to 11:30 am
Tuition: $25 per person

Program Restrictions: Because you will be visiting a NASA base you will need a United States Issued photo ID. Foreign Nationals will not be able to have access to the NASA/Navy Base. Unfortunately, Foreign Nationals cannot attend the trip.

What participants need to wear/bring to the workshop:
  • Sunscreen and bug spray
  • Water Bottle and Photo I.D.
  • Bag for wet clothing
  • Long pants (that can get muddy)
  • Tight fitting lace-up sneakers (no rubber boots) that can get muddy
  • Bathing suit-worn under clothing for changing afterwards
  • Change of clothing and additional shoes
  • Towel
