NASA & VIMS FIELD TRIPS

CBFS has partnerships with local organizations such as NASA Wallops Island and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Those partnerships allow us to set up behind-the-scenes tours for students and teachers. VIMS trips allow students to learn from current Marine Biologists about the research and field work happening on the Eastern Shore. Students will get to tour the facility, see research labs and tanks, and ask questions to the biologists. NASA trips allow students to see the Wallops Island facility up close and speak with NASA employees. NASA tour opportunities vary based on what sites are open or available on Wallops Island.

NASA Field Trips:
  • Minimum 8 participants, Maximum 19 participants
  • All participants must all fit in one vehicle or rent one from CBFS
  • All participants must be 9 years old or older
  • Only available on Tuesdays or Thursdays

VIMS Field Trips:
  • Maximum 20 participants
  • Availability depends solely on VIMS schedule
  • Must have vehicles to drive down to VIMS campus in Wachapreague, VA
