COASTAL BOTANY

Dig deeper into the world of coastal plants. Students will get a chance to get an up close look at salt marsh plants and understand why they are so important to coastal ecosystems. Students will even get the chance to create plant presses of their favorite salt marsh plants to take home with them.  

Class Goals:
  • Investigate the characteristics, anatomy, morphology, and ecology of plants
  • Discuss the ecological importance of salt marsh plant species
  • Understand the need for conservation of salt marsh vegetation
  • Discuss how herbariums help with conservation and science of plants
