These experiences are open to all universities, colleges, and researchers.

Summer Courses

Summer courses at Chincoteague Bay Field Station are 3-week classes designed to get students out of the classroom and into the field. Thanks to the unique collaboration of our member universities of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), students:
  • Gain access to cutting edge scientific equipment
  • Learn from leading experts
  • Develop practical field and research skills

Field Trips

University Field Trips at CBFS are the perfect complement to courses run during the academic year. Faculty members typically bring groups over the weekends; seasonal breaks and summer classes allow for longer, more in-depth studies. Trip specifics are arranged to accommodate individual group needs. Field trips can include research cruises, half and full-day visits to pristine field sties, use of laboratories and equipment, lodging and meals, and more.

Research Opportunities

From professional researchers to citizen science, research is a core part of our mission.  We provide technical and logistical support for researchers from all institutions and of all ages.  Our team of knowledgeable field assistants can help you plan and execute your activities.

Employment Opportunities

Would you like to gain leadership experience in both field and residential settings to facilitate the hands-on educational experience for college students? University & Research seasonal personnel are immersed in the daily operations of the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, conduct research, develop leadership skills as they support college students in various aspects of summer courses, and complete various physical and administrative tasks to meet program goals.
