Field Station Educator

Positions open until filled. Applications accepted on rolling basis.
Position Dates: March 2nd - October 30th
$880 biweekly + room and board

Educators are trained to work with all programs (school, university, adult and family, custom, Road Scholar, Scouts, and summer camp programs) and will work with learners of all levels, including K-12 students, college students, and adult learners. Field Station Educators work primarily with education programs (summer camp, school programs, family & special programs, Road Scholar, Scouts) but will have the opportunity to assist with outreach and University & Research programming. You will gain valuable and diverse knowledge regarding aquarium and field equipment use and maintenance, environmental education techniques, boat crew skills and boat safety, group leadership in laboratory and field settings, time management, and marine husbandry. This highly demanding, but rewarding, job best fits individuals who are self-motivated and work well both independently and as part of a team. Candidates must demonstrate problem solving skills, time and group management skills, and enthusiasm for education and the environment.

University & Research Summer Assistant 

​Number of positions available: 1
Position Dates: 
May 11 - August 8, 2026
$1000 stipend, Room & Board 

The Summer Assistant is immersed in the daily operations of the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, helping interns conduct research, and developing leadership skills as they support college students as a resident advisor. This position will occur during our four summer sessions, beginning four weeks prior to, and ending at the completion of summer sessions.

Seasonal Housekeeper

Position Start Date: End of February to early March
Position End Date: Mid-August through Mid-November (flexible)
$12 - $15/hour dependent on experience

Housekeepers are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all program areas at CBFS including but not limited to residence halls, common areas, lab and classroom spaces, and office buildings. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm, but weekend work may be required during the busiest times of the year. Experience in housekeeping is preferred but not necessary - we are willing to train the right candidate! Housekeeping staff is expected to maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times, especially when interacting with program participants and guests. 

Uniform shirts are provided.

This position has the potential to be extended and/or for a promotion depending on performance! A bonus will be awarded at the end of a successfully completed contract.

Seasonal Food Service Team Member

Position start date: End of February or early March
Position end date: mid-November
$12-$15/hour depending on experience

Food service team members are responsible for preparing and serving food, cafeteria-style, to both large and small groups of all ages. Food service team members are responsible for safe handling and preparation of food, serving food to participants, and cleaning and re-setting the dining hall between groups and meals, including dishes. Food service team members should have a positive attitude, be comfortable interacting with participants of all ages, and have knowledge of common dietary restrictions and allergies (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, peanut/tree nut, etc.). ServSafe certification preferred but not required. Staff meal provided for all shifts worked.
