Scout Programs

Looking for the perfect space to host your next scout weekend? Our location on Virginia's beautiful and nature-filled Eastern Shore makes us the ideal site to engage your group in adventure and help youth develop the leadership skills at the heart of scouting programs. Attend one of our scheduled badging trips or create a custom program to fit your troop's needs. Either way, your scout will embark on an adventure they won't forget! Scouts must attend the program with an adult chaperone.

Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops welcome.

2026 Badging Programs

Registration for 2026 programs will open January 26, 2026 at 9AM EST.
Come join CBFS staff for a set schedule of activities designed specifically for earning badges! Each trip is geared towards a different badge or badges, and is designed to achieve a full badge during your stay. Blue cards will be issued and signed by our Merit Badge Counselor at the end of the program. Come with a troop or on your own to get hands-on, feet-wet experience and have fun with fellow scouts.

All participant groups must include a registered adult chaperone. Badging Weekend fees are per person and all-inclusive:
activities, housing, transportation, and meals.

Payment & Cancellation Policies

There will now be a two step billing process for Oceanography and Environmental Science/Bird Study Badging Weekends.

1) Once your registration has been received and processed it will take up to 5 business days to create an invoice. The first invoice you will receive is for the Non-Refundable deposit of $30. This deposit will need to be paid within 5 business days. If the non-refundable deposit is not paid, you will be removed from the program roster and you will have to re-register if you are still interested in coming. Once the non-refundable deposit is paid, a second invoice will be sent. This non-refundable deposit is NOT an additional cost to you, it is included in the fees listed for each program's cost.

2) The second invoice you will receive is the remaining balance due. This invoice can be paid in as few or little payments as you like, as long as the balance is paid in full two weeks prior to your program start date.

Payments cannot be processed until invoices have been made. Please be patient as we process each registration manually. Payments may be made over the phone, via check, or through our online payment system. In order to secure your spot for the program, you have 5 working days to pay the $30 non-refundable deposit from the invoice date. If a deposit is not made, you will be removed from the program and you will need to re-register.

Payments must be made in full two weeks prior to the beginning of your program. If you need to set up a payment plan, please contact our office.

Payment Portal
The link to the online payment portal is included with your invoice. Select "Review and Pay" to be taken to our secure payments page.

Phone Payments
To pay over the phone with a credit card, please call 757-824-5636 x104 with your card information ready. Payments are entered immediately but may take up to 3 days to process and show up on your card statement.

Check Payments
Checks should be made out to "Chincoteague Bay Field Station" with the name and date of the program in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to

Exceptions to this policy are made on a case by case basis with approval from the Education Director and Executive Director.
