Join CBFS for our Friday Adventure Series! These programs are perfect for people looking to explore the Eastern Shore in a new and exciting way. From individuals looking for adventure to families looking to get hands on, feet wet together, these programs have it all!
Please note, some programs are age restricted.
For all programs, at least one adult aged 18 or older must be with each group. Participants under 18 will not be allowed to participate without adult supervision.

Ocean Adventure - Participate in an Oceanography Research Cruise to get hands-on with fascinating local organisms while learning how to safely handle them! Dates: June 27, July 18, August 15 Tuition: $60 |
Organism Dissection - Dive deeper and explore the anatomy of an aquatic organism. You'll learn all about the unique anatomy, behaviors, and adaptations of some of our local species while participating in a dissection. Dates: July 11 (Squid Dissection), July 25 (Shark Dissection) Tuition: $30 Please note: The preserved organisms are stored in formalin, which has a strong smell. If you are sensitive to strong scents, please keep this in mind as you prepare for the program. |
Kayaking - Join CBFS staff on a paddle through one of the many unique ecosystems that the Eastern Shore has to offer.
Dates: August 8 (Full Moon Paddle), August 29 Tuition: $50 Please note: Participants must be 13 or older to register for this program. |
Nocturnal Adaptations Hike - Test your night vision during this after-dark hike! Acquaint yourself with nocturnal animals and the adaptations that make them successful creatures of the night. Dates: August 22, September 5 Tuition: $30 |
Fish Biology - Learn all about the anatomy and adaptations of different fish by getting a closer look at our local fish species. Collect fish using various sampling methods such as seining and dip netting. Dates: July 4, August 1 Tuition: $30 |
Payment and Cancellation Policies
Once you have registered for a day program, you will receive an invoice within 3 business days. The balance for the program is due at least 24 hours prior to the program. If payment is not received, you registration may be cancelled. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations. Exceptions to this policy may be made on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Education Director and Executive Director.
