Beth grew up in northern Maryland and spent summer vacations exploring the beaches of North Carolina where she developed her passion for the ocean and marine life. Beth attended Coastal Carolina University to pursue this passion and graduated with a BS in Marine Science. After college Beth worked at a non-profit environmental education center where she developed her interest in teaching the public about the ocean and environmental issues while also getting to interact with live animals every day. During this time, she also learned about oyster aquaculture in the Chesapeake Bay.
Beth's favorite marine animal is the Zebra Shark and in her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, working out and going to the beach! |
Hi, I'm Lexi! I am a current Master of Professional Science Student at the University of Miami at Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, focusing on Marine Conservation. In 2019, I received my BA in Environmental Biology from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas, which is where I gained my passion for conservation efforts for the environment. It is also where I also grew my excitement for leadership and education! I worked for two non-profit organizations focusing on invasive species management in Houston, Texas. After that I realized I LOVED working with volunteers and helping educate people about environmental conservation which is why I wanted to get my Masters, which I should be graduating with December 2022.
I was born in Utah and moved around a lot growing up. I have lived in Washington, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Texas, and Florida. Moving around a lot while growing up gave me the opportunity to meet new people and see new places. I love being outside, especially near any body of water! In my free time I love to paint, run, play soccer, and read! |

Claire is from Eastern North Carolina and received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2019. After graduating, she worked as an elementary school teacher teaching 3rd and 5th grade, during which time she was able to share her curiosity about the natural world with her students. In her spare time, Claire enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors. She is excited to continue sharing her love of learning as an educator at the Field Station!

My name is Victoria Reed; I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, so I have always been drawn to working near the ocean. I received my Associate's Degree from Tidewater Community College and my Bachelor's degree in Fish and Wildlife Conservation from Virginia Tech. Before graduating from Virginia Tech, I taught horseback riding lessons at NAS Oceana Stables. I also volunteered with the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Team. I headed south to the Florida Keys for a Marine Science Education Internship following graduation. All of these experiences led me to serve with AmeriCorps as a Volunteer Management Assistant at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, GA. After my service term, I became the Volunteer Coordinator at the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo, VA. I am Certified Interpretive Guide with the National Association of Interpretation and am looking forward to getting back into my real passion of Marine Science Education.

My name is Molly and I am a recent graduate of Virginia Tech. I graduated with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Green Engineering. I am originally from Canton, Ohio, where I attended Jackson High School, and got my first taste of environmental science. I dream of being an environmental science educator and hope to get a masters degree in Public Health. In my free time I love to spend time outside hiking or riding horses, and spending time with my friends and family. I am so excited to join the Field Station team and get to meet new people and continue learning about the field I love!

Wade Stinson-Ebert is a 2020 graduate of St. Olaf College, where he earned a degree in Environmental Studies & Management. Originally from rural Colorado, where fresh water is an oft scarce commodity, Wade's primarily interested in and focused his studies on water usage & policy, water fouling, and drought mitigation. With this interest in all things water-related, Wade has always been keen to widen his breadth of knowledge of marine sciences, but lacked the opportunities to fully delve into the field- which is why he is so excited to be joining the CBFS team for the upcoming season. Prior to coming to Chincoteague, Wade has worked as seasonal ranger at Dead Horse Point in Moab, Utah, and as a fellow with the Piedmont Environmental Council in Warrenton, Virginia. These experiences highlighted to him the importance of quality hands-on education, and how crucial a role it plays in solving the environmental issues we face today.
While at St. Olaf, Wade played varsity soccer, and currently races mountain bikes when he is able. Other than that, he enjoys backcountry skiing & snowboarding, and exploring nature wherever he can find it. |

Hi, I’m Emma! I am a recent graduate of Loyola University in Chicago with a B.S. in Anthropology and a minor in Environmental Science. I started my college career at Purdue Fort Wayne where I majored in Anthropology and was a goalkeeper on the women’s soccer team. During my time at Fort Wayne, I grew passionate about environmental archaeology and looking at the relationship between past societies and their environment.
Even though I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, I have spent a lot of time on Chincoteague Island. Every summer as a kid, my family and I would take a road trip to Chincoteague where we would spend the week going to the beach, going on bike rides through Assateague’s trails, and eating lots of ice cream (thanks, Island Creamery!). During my free time I enjoy playing soccer, doing puzzles, and playing with my two bunnies—Chicken and Nugget, as well as camping and experiencing the outdoors. |
Hi, I’m Ashley and I am from Portland, Oregon. I graduated from Oregon State University in 2020 where I majored in Biology with a focus in Marine Science. In college I loved participating in field science programs where I spent time surveying the intertidal and learning to scuba dive. After college I moved to Bend, OR and worked at a bike and ski shop before moving to Rhode Island to work in coastal conservation.
In my free time I enjoy any activity that involves the outdoors, but my favorites are snorkeling/diving, skiing, camping, and tidepooling. I love exploring new places and learning new things! |
