Hi I’m Remy! I am originally from southern California until moving to Virginia to get my undergraduate degree. I graduated in 2024 from Averett University with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses.
I love anything outdoors, especially the ocean! I love learning about sharks and coral reefs in my free time. In college I got some hands-on experience working with sharks and ray research in Florida. I have also written an op-ed for my local newspaper about the importance of coral reefs and how people can make small changes to help save them. Lastly, I have a background writing ESG reports for companies, that gives companies a plan on how to become more sustainable. I started as a camp counselor here at the Bay Field Station and am excited to continue getting to do what I love as an educator! |
Hi! My name is Raven Weitzenhoffer, and I am a returning educator at CBFS. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in fall of 2024 with a BA in Environmental Studies. I love all things outdoors, but have a special place in my heart for invertebrates (big fan of spiders!). Some of my hobbies include roadtripping, camping, solo travel, and (more recently) birding. I am super excited for the 2026 season!

Hello, I’m Day! I grew up near Ocean City, Maryland, and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (in New York) with a Bachelor’s of Science. I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Natural Resources through Virginia Polytechnic Institute, focusing on wildlife and ecology. After college, I spent two years serving in the Maryland Conservation Corps (MCC), working at various Maryland State Parks. I have always had a love of nature, wildlife, animals and the outdoors. My experience with MCC made me realize that I want to pursue those interests as a career, and especially conservation and outdoor education. I truly enjoy working outside with like-minded people who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, and also teaching people of all ages about the natural world. I am very passionate about entomology, and enjoy stumbling upon any wildlife both during work and personal hours. I’m always excited to see an unfamiliar or uncommon insect, and ready at all times to safely handle any critters that others might avoid.

Hello, I’m Elaine Walters! I studied Marine Biology and Sustainability Leadership at Old Dominion University. I have traveled the world to help protect the environment, specializing in the study of nesting loggerhead sea turtles. I have worked both in the field and many outreach positions, including as a recent candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates. In my free time I enjoy art, fiber arts, and anything related to the outdoors!
