INTRODUCTION TO MOLECULAR BIOTECHNOLOGY- BIOL 411
Dr. Maria Kitchens-Kintz - EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY
Description:
Almost all fields in Organismal and Environmental sciences are using molecular techniques for gathering data about an organism’s health, numbers, territory, etc… The list goes on. Marine Science is no different. This course will provide students with an overview of modern Biotechnology and its application to Marine Biology. The laboratory component will allow students to learn some of the major techniques and instrumentation widely used in molecular research. This course will make students more competitive for jobs and post-graduate positions. Field collection will be part of the course.
Prerequisites:
Biol 114 and Biol 115 or General Biology for the sciences
Required Textbook or Supplies:
None
Number of Students:
Maximum: 14
Chincoteague Bay Field Station Fee*:
Salicornia: $922
Traditional: $816
* Does not include university tuition or fees. For specific policy on CBFS fees, click HERE.
