Seasonal Positions and Volunteers

University & Research Intern Supervisor

Number of positions available: 1
Position dates: May 4 - August 8, 2020
$1,200 stipend, room and board

Would you like to gain leadership experience in both field and residential settings to facilitate the hands-on educational experience for college students? U&R Intern Supervisor duties include leading kayak trips in tidal creeks and marshes, escorting groups to NASA’s Wallops Island, overseeing residential aspects of the college community, and completing various physical and administrative tasks to meet program goals. The U&R Intern Supervisor reports to the U&R Coordinator, is a part of the Field Station’s education team, and assists with supervision of U&R Interns in all aspects of their job.

​Would you like to gain valuable hands-on experience at a marine science field station while building your leadership skills?  University & Research (U&R) Interns are immersed in the daily operations of the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, conduct research, and develop leadership skills as they support college students as resident advisors. Internships occur during our four summer sessions, beginning two weeks prior to, and ending at the completion of summer sessions. The intern will work three out of the four sessions, and may attend a course during their session off.

We have a group of faculty members who are hoping to run a more field experience based Alternative Spring Break event for spring break 2018. As details become available they will be posted here. 

If you are from a member university and are interested in setting up a small volunteer event, please contact universityandresearch@cbfieldstation.org to discuss opportunities. If you are local and would like to volunteer with us on a regular basis please visit our volunteer page.
