Would you like to gain leadership experience in both field and residential settings to facilitate the hands-on educational experience for college students? U&R Assistant duties include deckhands, escorts, teaching equipment use and handling of marine organisms, overseeing residential aspects of the college community, as well as other physical and administrative tasks. The U&R Summer Assistant reports to the U&R Coordinator, is a part of the Field Station’s education team, and assists with supervision of U&R Interns in their role as resident advisors, research, and during program work.

Would you like to gain valuable hands-on experience at a marine science field station while building your leadership skills? University and Research Interns aid in the daily operations of the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, conduct research, assist in conservation projects, and support college students as resident advisers. Internships occur during our four summer sessions, beginning a few days prior and ending a few days after the students each summer. The intern will work three out of the four sessions and may attend a course during their session off, with the added benefit of no station fees for their class.
